The Department of Sociology and Criminology & Law is excited to announce the schedule for the Spring 2025 Lunchtime Colloquium series. These events are an opportunity for faculty and graduate students to present on their research, pedagogy, and professional practice. All events will be held on Wednesdays from 11:40AM to 12:40PM, and we welcome you to join us in the Streib Conference Room (Turlington 3302) or via Zoom (link provided in event listing). We will host the following speakers throughout the semester:
- January 29: “Introduction to HiPerGator,” presented by Ying Zhang and Won-tak Joo
- March 12: “Towards a Constructivist Stratification,” presented by Dr. Edo Navot
- March 26: “Parasocial Relationships and Mental Health,” presented by Jaquoi Dorsett, Jomelys Gonzalez-Molina, Ashley Guarino, Makenna Morrow, Asha Puthanveetil, Sergio Ray, Olivia Schick, and Nik Solano (listed in alpha order)
- April 9: “Faking Pain, Finding Recognition: On Gender and Structural Inequalities in a Tanzanian Hospital,” presented by Dr. Megan Cogburn (in collaboration with Dr. Adrienne Strong, Emma Hanley, and Jacob Roman)
- April 23: “Delineating the Characteristics of Wise Organizations and Wise Leaders,” presented by Bhavna Sharma & Dr. Monika Ardelt
