The Department of Sociology and Criminology & Law is proud to announce that Edelweiss Murillo Lafuente (Sociology) has been awarded the 2024 Esther Ngan-ling Chow and Mareyjoyce Green Dissertation Scholarship Award. This prestigious award is presented by Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) and supports female and non-binary scholars of color from underrepresented groups who are studying the concerns that women of color face, both domestically and internationally.
Edelweiss’ dissertation explores anti-ableist feminist movements in the Global South, shedding light on the experiences and resistance strategies of women with disabilities in these regions.
