Seun Ajoseh is a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology with a concentration in Medical Sociology and Healthcare inequality.
My research focuses on health and healthcare inequality, maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, and medical migration. Specifically, I am interested in how social and structural factors create disparities in health outcomes, healthcare access and utilization, and health behaviors. I use quantitative, qualitative, and Natural Language Processing techniques to analyze datasets. My dissertation is focused on Doula support in the US Maternal Healthcare system. Specifically, I am examining the contents of doula visits, the impacts of doula visits on perinatal outcomes, and the economic situation of doulas. To examine this, I am utilizing computational and quantitative techniques on an administrative dataset and conducting a qualitative investigation on doulas in my dissertation. I am also working on papers about pregnancy intentions and pregnancy outcomes using the National Survey of Family Growth (2019-2023), a systematic review on the effect of doula on severe maternal morbidity and urgent maternal warning signs, and other papers on medical migration in the United Kingdom, and Nigeria’s political elites.
